WWE STAR “QUITS”: THE REAL SITUATION

Ex-Champion Drew McIntyre declares on WWE RAW that he’s leaving the league and deletes his social media accounts. The real background is different

The new horror group “Wyatt Sicks” has debuted, Seth Rollins is back – and another top WWE star reportedly doesn’t like it anymore.

In a turbulent edition of the TV show Monday Night RAW, former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre declared that he was leaving the league: “I can’t do it anymore. Screw this company, I quit,” the 39-year-old declared and left the ring – even General Manager Adam Pearce and WWE Chairman “Triple H” Paul Levesque couldn’t stop him.

McIntyre lost his World Title match to Damian Priest at his home Clash at the Castle in Scotland on Saturday due to interference from CM Punk, continuing his streak of losing title matches at major events – at WrestleMania, Priest had taken the newly won title from him, and at the first Clash at the Castle in 2022, he lost to Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

After the show, McIntyre deleted his social media accounts on X and Instagram to add to the fuss – but those who follow WWE happenings closely know what’s really going on

DREW MCINTYRE IS STILL PART OF WWE

McIntyre’s WWE contract would have actually expired at the end of 2023, but WWE, in the person of megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, had already made it official at the end of April that McIntyre had agreed to an extension with WWE – and thus wiped a possible move to competitor AEW off the table.

McIntyre has already been given a new boost with his heel turn into a villain and a promising feud with returning top star CM Punk. McIntyre’s layoff staging is very obviously in that context.

Punk’s next appearance has been announced for this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown in his native Chicago. As Punk has already revealed in advance, he wants to announce his ring comeback there after recovering from a torn triceps.

A duel with McIntyre – who, according to the script, aggravated Punk’s real injury with an attack – is the logical comeback match, as the feud was kept simmering during Punk’s forced break. McIntyre’s ostensible departure seems to be there to increase the element of surprise before the next attack on Punk – whenever it may come.
