Toprak Razgatlioglu dominates final practice ahead of Superpole – Scott Redding and Loris Baz in top 3 – Jonathan Rea with rare mistake in closing stages
Yamaha factory rider Toprak Razgatlioglu has secured the fastest time in the third free practice session at the World Superbike Championship at Magny-Cours (go to FT3 result). After the 24 WSBK riders had hardly been able to gain any experience on a dry track on Friday, the situation improved on Saturday morning. The lap times were significantly faster than the day before.
Toprak Razgatlioglu led the scoring in FT3 for a long time. BMW rider Scott Redding came within 0.571 seconds on his final attempt and finished the final Free Practice session in second position. Local hero Loris Baz (Bonovo-BMW) completed the pleasing result from BMW’s point of view and finished third.
World Championship leader Alvaro Bautista (Ducati) followed in FT3 in fourth position. Kawasaki rider Alex Lowes completed the top five, with teammate Jonathan Rea finishing FT3 in only sixth position, crashing in the final minute of practice.
Michael Rinaldi (Ducati), Garrett Gerloff (GRT-Yamaha), Andrea Locatelli (Yamaha) and Philipp Öttl (GoEleven-Ducati) completed the top 10. Öttl was tenth, 1.188 seconds off the fastest time, and was much stronger than in the rain on Friday.

Jonathan Rea’s crash in the closing stages was not the only incident in FT3. Ex-MotoGP rider Hafizh Syahrin had to be taken to the medical centre after crashing his Honda Fireblade.
