The third free practice session of the World Superbike Championship in Estoril is overshadowed by another highsider in the finish bend – Toprak Razgatlioglu with absolute best time
The 23 riders in the World Superbike Championship found much cooler conditions in the third free practice session in Estoril than in the two sessions on Friday. On Saturday morning, the sky was completely overcast. The tarmac temperature was 24°C and the air had warmed up to 19°C.
A crash by Yamaha rider Garrett Gerloff overshadowed the final practice session before Superpole. Gerloff was catapulted off his Yamaha R1 via highsider in the final corner and hit the asphalt hard. The US-American was slightly touched by the bike and appeared dazed in the gravel. He was taken to the medical centre.
The fastest time in FT3 went to Yamaha factory rider Toprak Razgatlioglu, who set the fastest lap of the weekend so far in 1:36.233 minutes. He was followed by his World Championship rivals Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) and Alvaro Bautista (Ducati).

Scott Redding was the best BMW rider in seventh. Iker Lecuona took Honda into the top 8, with substitute rider Marvin Fritz (Motoxracing-Yamaha) finishing FT3 in 16th position just behind GoEleven substitute rider Xavi Fores, who took over the bike from Philipp Öttl.
