Broderick Shepherd aka Australian Suicide, a longtime great of the Mexican wrestling scene, is dead. Fellow wrestler Sammy Guevara is in shock.
A tragic death has rocked the wrestling world: Broderick Shepherd aka Australian Suicide has passed away at just 32 years old.
Shepherd, an Australian and student of former WWE, WCW and ECW star Lance Storm, was a longtime mainstay of the Mexican wrestling scene and also wrestled for AEW in 2021. Shepherd’s biggest performances were with the Mexican AAA League, which announced his death on Thursday. No cause of death was given.
Sammy Guevara mourns
Shepherd, who competed as Ryan Rollins at the beginning of his career, was in the ring with many internationally known stars in his adopted country of Mexico, including WWE star Penta.
So sad to hear the news, Way too young to be gone. My heart goes out to Broderick’s family. https://t.co/5JhRIYkgxK pic.twitter.com/4SEYsqooKp

The athletic highflyer – who was occasionally seen wearing a mask typical of the country in Mexico – also made a guest appearance at AEW in early 2021: on the web show Dark, he competed as “El Australiano” in a longer match against Sammy Guevara, whom he also knew from Mexico. Guevara was the one who ended Shepherd’s reign as AAA cruiserweight champion in 2018.
Shepherd was married to fellow wrestler Vanilla Vargas and they have one child together.
Guevara was shocked by the death of his colleague: “So sad to hear this news, much too young to die. My condolences to Broderick’s family.”
