FIFA has announced the three finalists in the World Footballer’s Choice. While Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi are considered favourites, Mohamed Salah has outside chances.
Will Robert Lewandowski defend his title? The Pole narrowly edged out Lionel Messi for the Ballon d’Or, and both are now in the final three for the World Player of the Year award, which the Bayern striker won in 2020.
Also still in the running is Liverpool FC’s Mohamed Salah, who excelled in the 2021/22 first leg and has arguably been Europe’s most in-form player in recent weeks and months.
The favourites for the “The Best FIFA Football Awards “ on 17 January, however, are Lewandowski, who scored a whopping 69 goals in the 2021 calendar year, and Lionel Messi, who was most celebrated for his Copa America title with Argentina.
