Paris St. Germain remain unbeaten in their fourth game of the season and celebrated a deserved 4-1 victory at Olympique Lyon. The game was already decided at the break because OL was negligent at the back as well as up front.
PSG coach Luis Enrique made no experiments after the 3:1 against Lens and sent the same eleven into the race. The fans searched in vain for Kolo Muani after the spectacular deal with Eintracht Frankfurt. The striker was not in the capital’s squad after the transfer hullabaloo.
OL had not even arrived on the pitch before Mbappé took the penalty, which he converted with a bit of luck (keeper Lopes had his feet on it) into the middle (4th). Before that, Tolisso took too long after a pass from his goalkeeper, Ugarte ran up, interfered and was fouled.
Lyon tried to react quickly, but Kadewere’s attempt to shoot at goal from a central position was blocked just in time. Thus, disaster took its course when Dembelé gained momentum in the attack via the right side and flicked in front of goal. Keeper Lopes couldn’t get hold of the ball and Hakimi dusted off the shot (20th).
Shortly before the break it becomes clear
The home side again had their best chances, but Cherki (30th) and Tolisso (33rd) found their master in Donnarumma, who was on hand both times. Before the break, things got even worse for the careless defence. First Asensio increased the lead to 3:0 with a free run towards the OL goal (38th). In first-half stoppage time, the Spaniard provided the assist for Mbappé. A look at the data after 45 minutes revealed that Lyon even had one more shot on goal than the visitors.
After the changeover, the game continued to be lively, but Paris had lost some of its accuracy in scoring. In return, Olympique were awarded a penalty via VAR. Tolisso delayed his shot and looked out for Donnarumma – 1:4 (74.).
In the final phase, PSG missed the chance to increase the lead. Neither Barcola, who had switched sides in the summer, nor Mbappé finished their good chances. OL are bottom of the table after the 4-1 defeat, while PSG climb to second behind Monaco.
After the international break, Paris St. Germain will face OGC Nice – perhaps Kolo Muani will already be involved then.
