Mike Trout is one of the most accomplished sports stars of his generation. He has not yet turned 27 but has a career that stands out of the crowd from other top baseball players. He has played in every Season of MLB and finishing first and second in the MVP voting shows how special the player really is.
Great all-round baseball player
The Los Angeles Angels center fielder is a complete all-rounder; he can certainly bat and he is one of the best around when it comes to stolen bases. His career has so far amassed an impressive 7 All-Stars, 2 AL MVPs (2104 & 2016) and 5 Silver Slugger awards, amongst other top accolades. His first full season saw him pick up the AL Rookie of the Year Award and announced his arrival in MLB in style. He really has not looked back since, yet you feel he is underrated when you compare him against other sports stars.
He gets a lot of appreciation from those who follow baseball but he is not a household name in the way that Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Alex Rodriguez are. However, he still has plenty of time left to change that. He is a legend at the Angels but his team are nowhere near competing with the likes of Houston Astros, Red Sox and Chicago Cubs for the big prizes, which could be one of the main reasons Trout does not get as much attention as he probably deserves.
Trout has broken so many records
Trout has broken record after record and in 2015 he became the youngest MLB player to reach 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases at the age of just 23 years and 253 days. Sports Illustrated have rated Trout as the number 1 player in baseball but you cannot help but feel he should have more recognition for his outstanding contribution to the game.
