Weghorst changes – first the consultant

Wout Weghorst joins a new consultant agency. The VfL Wolfsburg striker will be managed by Sports360 in future. His path to the top of the Bundesliga had been accompanied for years by Stars & Friends.

It’s a change that makes people sit up and take notice: One and a half years before the end of his contract with VfL Wolfsburg, goal scorer Wout Weghorst will be advised by Sports360. The agency, whose managing directors are Volker Struth and Sascha Breese and which also looks after players such as Timo Werner, Tonis Kroos and Dayot Upamecano, announced on Friday: “Dear Wout, we are looking forward to working with you and are happy to be at your side in the future.”

At that side for years was Stars & Friends, ex-professional Simon Cziommer meticulously accompanied Weghorst’s path from the Netherlands to the top of the Bundesliga. The attacker started his career in the lowlands of Dutch football, then made a career move every two years. “The decisive factor”, “is the player. He has to take things on board and make them happen. It’s no use if I get a runner the best shoes but he doesn’t put them on. “

Is a summer switch imminent?

The exciting question now is where Weghorst could possibly move to in the summer. The striker talks openly about his dream of making another career leap, as well as about his penchant for the Premier League. The international is currently in his fourth VfL season – which was not planned this way. His contract with VfL ends in 2023, and after the current season Weghorst will have his last chance to earn a high transfer fee. What’s next for the 29-year-old? Volker Struth and Sascha Breese are now working on the answer to this question.
