The Orlando Magic won against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA preseason – carried by two world champions. Dillon Brooks was penalised
Strong early form after the World Champion late summer: Franz and Moritz Wagner led the Orlando Magic to a 108-105 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of their preparation for the new season.
The younger player scored a whopping 18 points in 18 minutes, Moritz came off the bench and then scored 14 points in 16 minutes. The two Berliners each recorded just one miss from the field.
“It feels very good, we are making progress and applying what we talk about in training. I think it was even a visible progress compared to the first game,” Franz Wagner said looking back on a 122-105 win over New Orleans. “I feel good, it’s fun to play with the guys again. But it’s also a completely different game than what I played in the summer, so I’m getting used to it again, too.”
Orlando will kick off the new season on the night of October 26 with a home game against the Houston Rockets.
Penalty against Brooks
For punching world champion Daniel Theis in the ribs in a test match, Dillon Brooks must pay a 25,000 US dollar (around 23,700 euros) fine. This decision was announced by the NBA on Thursday. The Canadian, who came from Memphis and won the bronze medal at the World Championships, had already been sent off the court in the first quarter for the scene in his Houston Rockets’ 122-103 win over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
