Mustafa ‘xMusti19’ Cankal has been voted top performer of the VBL Club Championship final – despite a crushing defeat in the final.
XMusti19′ lost 7-0 to Anders ‘Anders’ Vejrgang in the final for the German FIFA 22 club title. FC St. Pauli’s subsequent 1:7 defeat against RB Leipzig was thus initiated after the draw in the opening double.
Despite this defeat, Mustafa Cankal showed strong performances overall during the play-offs and finals of the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) Club Championship by bevestor and ultimately led St. Pauli to the runner-up spot. This performance has now also been rewarded by the community, who voted him the top performer of the final.
xMusti19′ received 46 per cent of the votes on the VBL Twitter channel, clearly outperforming his rivals. One player from each of the four semi-finalists was put to the vote. The other 54 per cent were distributed among ‘Anders’ as well as Timo ‘TimoX’ Siep from FC Ingolstadt 04 and Levy Finn ‘levyfinn’ Rieck from Hansa Rostock.
Strong doubles against Ingolstadt
“Throughout the tournament”, ‘xMusti19’ and his St. Pauli team-mate Kamal ‘FCSP_Kamal’ Kamboj put in “outstanding performances”, the VBL wrote on Twitter – “both offensively and defensively”. The Hamburg side conceded their first goal in the third match, while Cankal collected the most on the final weekend with five wins.
St. Pauli took 15:9 points in the group stage alone, in the subsequent semi-final there was a convincing 7:4 against Ingolstadt, in which the double performance of ‘xMusti19 and ‘FCSP_Kamal’ made the difference with two wins.
Already in the main round, Cankal had been one of the best players in the league. 22 victories meant fifth place in the corresponding rankings, 65 goals even put him in third place among the players most likely to score. With St. Pauli he finished fourth in the North-West Division, and in the play-offs against FC Augsburg (7:1) he finally made it to the final.
