VBL: 128 players fight for a place in the Grand Final

The play-offs of the VBL Open are in the starting blocks, this coming weekend 128 players will fight for a place in the Grand Final of the FIFA Individual Championship.

With the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) Club Championship by bevestor, the first national title has already been awarded, RB Leipzig secured the German Club Championship at the end of March. In the coming days, the battle for the individual championship will also gain momentum.

On 7 and 8 May, a total of 128 players will compete in the play-offs – 104 of them have secured their participation in the play-offs via the VBL Open or the Community Cups in the past months. In addition, there are 24 professionals from the VBL Club Championship.

The first round will be played in the Swiss system: In the first round, the players will be drawn to a random opponent, after which they will meet opponents with the same number of victories in four further rounds. Each round is played in a first leg and a second leg – whoever loses three times is eliminated from the play-offs.

‘RBLZ_UMUT’ & Co. already qualified

The first four Swiss rounds will be played on Saturday: first on PlayStation 5 from 2pm, then on Xbox Series XS from 6pm. On Sunday, the fifth round will follow from 4 p.m. onwards, before the best 16 players per console will compete in the double elimination bracket.

The best 8 players per console will make it to the Grand Final, which will be held as an offline event in Cologne on 4 and 5 June. The 16 best players from the VBL Club Championship, including defending champion Umut ‘RBLZ_UMUT’ Gültekin from RB Leipzig, already have their tickets in the bag.
