Upper limit for events dropped: Salzburg against Bayern can take place in front of a full house

As of Saturday, there is no longer an upper limit for people at events in Austria. This means that RB Salzburg’s Champions League home match against Bayern Munich can also take place in front of a full crowd.

RB Salzburg will be allowed to play their Champions League home match against FC Bayern Munich in front of a full crowd after all. As the Austrian federal government announced on Tuesday, the upper limit of persons at events will be dropped on Saturday (12 February). Thus, nothing stands in the way of a sold-out house in Wals-Siezenheim on 16 February. When asked, the Austrian series champions confirmed that they would make the full ticket contingent of just under 30,000 available despite a “mammoth logistical task”.

We are very pleased that this sensible and responsible solution was found shortly before this historic match for the whole of Austria. After all, this is not just about football, but about many other events that – especially because they are held outdoors and in combination with other security measures – pose virtually no risk. I would like to thank all our partners and the local authorities in advance for the implementation of this upcoming tour de force, and we are looking forward to a football festival,” said managing director Stefan Reiter in a statement.

Vaccinated or recovered as a prerequisite

Permission to attend an event is 2G proof.  Accordingly, one must be vaccinated or recovered to attend the first Champions League round of 16 match in Salzburg club history. The FFP2 mask requirement remains in effect for both indoor and outdoor events.

Currently, there is still an upper limit of 2,000 people at events in Austria. In view of the stable situation in the hospitals, the domestic organisers can now look forward to a relaxation despite the high number of new infections.
