Ever again, horrendous ticket prices in the Champions League cause protests. UEFA has now defined a new upper limit for away ticket prices in the European Cup – and has already announced the next reduction
The stadium experience at away matches in the European Cup will be cheaper from this season – at least a little. On Monday, UEFA lowered the upper price limit for guest tickets in all three competitions. Accordingly, from 2024/25, home clubs will be allowed to charge a maximum of 60 euros per ticket in the Champions League, 40 euros in the Europa League and 20 euros in the Conference League from visiting fans.
From 2025/26, the upper limit will be further reduced to €50 in the top flight and €35 in the Europa League. In the Conference League, the cap will remain at €20. These values were preceded by “extensive consultations with the European Club Association (ECA) and the fan organization Football Supporters Europe (FSE)”, according to the UEFA press release.
In 2019, the latter introduced an upper limit for away tickets for the first time, which remained in place until recently. It was set at 70 euros for the Champions League and 45 euros for the Europa League. Nevertheless, there were repeated protests because clubs exceeded or even disregarded the limit, which in some cases led to sanctions being imposed by UEFA.

“Today’s decision is another step in UEFA’s efforts to improve the match experience for all fans,” said UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin. “Through fan-friendly measures like this, we continue our mission to keep soccer an inclusive sport, where supporters who follow their teams across Europe are given the recognition and appreciation they deserve. “
FSE CEO Ronan Evain also sees “further recognition of the important role that away fans play in the atmosphere at European Cup matches”, even if the new caps in the Champions and Europa Leagues remain well below the fans’ demand for “Twenty’s Plenty”. “Today’s decision is another success in the joint efforts of FSE, UEFA and clubs to improve conditions for away fans across Europe.”
Those who regularly follow their team to away games will nevertheless face a more expensive season than before: in the Champions and Europa League, all teams will now play at least four away games instead of three.
