Sebastien Haller has left Borussia Dortmund’s training camp early. A tumour has been discovered in the testicle of the newcomer.
Haller complained of feeling unwell after training on Monday morning, BVB announced in the evening. In the course of intensive medical examinations, the tumour had then been detected.
“This news today was a shock for Sebastien Haller and all of us,” BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl was quoted as saying. “The entire BVB family wishes Sebastien a full recovery as soon as possible and that we can embrace him again soon. We will do everything in our power to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment. “
Further investigations planned
Further examinations are to take place in a specialised medical centre in the coming days. As soon as further findings are available, Dortmund want to inform about it “in consultation with the player”. Until then, they ask that Haller’s privacy be respected.
The 28-year-old attacker had moved to Dortmund from Ajax Amsterdam this summer and was supposed to help fill the gap left by Erling Haaland’s departure for Manchester City. Now he is out for an indefinite period of time.
