Tuchel’s successor found: Potter is new Chelsea coach

After the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea FC has found a new coach. According to information, Graham Potter will be on the sidelines of the Blues in the future

So the candidate of choice does it: Chelsea FC have found their new coach in Graham Potter – and have already signed a successor just a few days after Thomas Tuchel was sacked. The official confirmation by the Blues as well as the presentation of the new coach is still pending.

The 47-year-old Englishman leaves Brighton & Hove Albion after almost three years, where he shaped a small era in the past seasons. Unlike other teams playing against relegation in the Premier League, Potter relied on controlled, neat flat passing, tactical flexibility and innovative methods.

Potter set club records with Brighton

The reward: last season, despite notable departures such as Ben White (Arsenal FC), he set new club records with the Seagulls for points (51) and league position (9th), beating teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham and making Potter’s name increasingly appear on the Big Six’s docket in England.

This season too, key players such as Marc Cucurella (Chelsea) and Yves Bissouma (Tottenham) turned their backs on the south coast of England – something Potter seemed to more than compensate for with his squad.

With four wins from six games, Brighton are currently the surprise team of the league. Now the most important personnel is leaving the project for London.

Small consolation for Brighton: Chelsea are digging deep into their pockets for Potter’s services. According to several media reports, the Blues will pay around 18 million euros. The former Premier League player (eight games for Southampton) is initially expected to lead the season, which has been disappointing so far despite a reported expenditure of almost 280 million euros, to a positive end – and at best shape another era.
