With a severely thinned-out squad, FC Bayern was eagerly awaiting the winter break. Now the record champions have announced how they will continue in the new year
The FC Bayern professionals went into the winter break with a 2:1 win in Wolfsburg. After the game, Harry Kane joked about sending a few pictures of the beach to his friends in England because, unlike the Premier League, the Bundesliga is taking a break before the record champions open the new soccer year against TSG Hoffenheim on January 12 (Friday, 8.30pm).
Kane still has until January 2 to make his friends jealous with vacation snaps – then it’s back to business at Säbener Straße. FC Bayern has now published the complete winter schedule – as already announced, without a winter camp in Qatar, but with a training camp in Portugal
Four-day training camp in Faro
The fans will also get their money’s worth, as the first training session on January 2 from 4 p.m. is open to the public. The dress rehearsal for the start of the competitive match is then scheduled for January 6. At 3.30 p.m., FCB will host its namesake in Basel. They will then continue to prepare for the restart at home before hopping on a plane and heading to warmer climes after the game against TSG.
For four days (January 14 to 18), the Munich team will hold a training camp in Faro. On the south coast of Portugal, the focus will be on team building as well as training. Back in Germany, an English week awaits due to the catch-up match against Union Berlin (January 24). The hot phase of the season will then begin in February. On matchday 21, Bayern will host leaders Leverkusen, followed by the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at Lazio in Rome on Wednesday
