“The right balance is important”: Guidotti’s tasks as KTM team manager

Team manager Francesco Guidotti describes how he keeps people in KTM’s MotoGP program focused on both good and bad days

While his older brother Giacomo Guidotti has been working as a crew chief in various Honda teams in the Motorcycle World Championship for years – currently for Luca Marini in the factory team, previously for Takaaki Nakagami in the LCR team, among others – Francesco Guidotti has been taking on a less technical role in various teams for years: the role of team manager

Coming from Pramac-Ducati, Francesco Guidotti docked with KTM in the winter of 2021/22 to take on the role of team manager in the Austrian factory team. His successor at Pramac has since been Gino Borsoi, who was previously team manager at the Aspar racing team.

At KTM, however, Francesco Guiodotti’s activities are not limited to the factory team, but also include the second team – which currently operates under the name Tech3-GasGas.

What exactly are his tasks as team manager of KTM’s MotoGP program with a total of four regular riders? “If everything is going perfectly and there is something to celebrate, then there should be no leaps in the air. Celebrate yes, but keep your feet on the ground”,

The KTM team manager explains why it is so important not to become overconfident after a success: “The job may be done for one day. But right after that comes another day and things can look different again. It’s important not to lose focus.”

It is precisely this attitude that comes into play on bad days: “When things aren’t going well, it’s important to understand why. It’s then about analyzing whether we’ve made a mistake, whether we could have done something differently, whether we can take inspiration from what others have done differently. There are many factors that need to be considered in a case like this.”

Guidotti summarizes his role as KTM team manager as follows: “It is important that everyone in the entire team remains motivated. But this must always happen in the right balance. “
