And why not this time? “We gave the ball back after four or five seconds,” said Terzic. “The first or, at the latest, the second pass meant that we had to chase after it. We had to defend so many counter-attacks – and then we didn’t manage to keep up with the pace or the ball security. “
Partial blame for Schlotterbeck, annoyance at 0:2
He was particularly annoyed by the early double blow – the 0:1 from Dayot Upamecano after just four minutes, when he left his opponent Nico Schlotterbeck standing after a corner, and the 0:2 from Harry Kane. “Of course you can blame Schlotti for the mistake here, he loses sight of the man,” the Dortmund coach explained in detail. “The corner is well taken, but it also comes into the area where we have our free man. Terzic and Kehl firmly believe in the team
Despite the current seven-point deficit to leaders Leverkusen, the coach was far from throwing in the towel: “Unfortunately, we weren’t able to prove today that we can take the next step towards Bayern. But what we have shown is that we have always come back after games and setbacks like this and drawn the right conclusions. And we’ll do that again this time.” Next on the agenda is the Champions League clash against Newcastle and the Bundesliga match at table-topping VfB Stuttgart (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)

But, Kehl also said: “We were unbeaten in 17 games before that, including a win at Newcastle. We’ve had a really good run in recent weeks. I’m not going to be talked down about the fact that everything is in ruins again. That’s certainly not the case. But today we weren’t on an equal footing from the start, we never had a grip on this game. “
