Tennis star Daniiel Medvedev retires from the ATP tournament in Madrid. The Russian is suffering from thigh problems
Long faces in the stands at the ATP tournament in Madrid: instead of two quarter-finals, the spectators only got to see a single set on Thursday. After Australian Open winner Jannick Sinner (Italy) had already withdrawn from his match against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime the day before due to a hip injury, Russia’s Daniiel Medvedev retired after the first set in his duel with the Czech Jiri Lehecka.
Medvedev was obviously unable to continue the match due to thigh problems. Before retiring, the former world number one had taken a time-out for treatment. Lehecka won the first set 6:4
