Great joy for Jan-Lennard Struff: The tennis pro from Warstein is the ATP’s Comeback Player of the Year

Great joy for Jan-Lennard Struff: The tennis pro from Warstein is the ATP’s Comeback Player of the Year. The 33-year-old was chosen by his colleagues on the tour. He received more votes than Germany’s number one Alexander Zverev, Dominik Koepfer from Furtwangen and Frenchman Gael Monfils.

“I’m very, very happy and excited to win the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year award. I was nominated together with Sascha, Domi and Gael, who I think also deserved the award for their seasons, so congratulations on that,” said Struff.

The long-time Davis Cup player started the season 167th in the world rankings and climbed as high as 21st at times. “I didn’t expect to go from outside the top 150 to the top 30 so quickly,” said Struff: “It was crazy how quickly it happened.”

He reached the final at both the Masters in Madrid and the grass court tournament in Stuttgart, but missed out on his first tournament win at ATP level.

The nominees were shortlisted by international tennis journalists.
