Start without Silas

After the two positive Corona cases Kostantinos Mavropanos and Mateo Klimowicz, an unclear test result for Silas at the start of training means that the attacker cannot train either as a precautionary measure.

At 3pm on the dot, Pellegrino Matarazzo, celebrating his second anniversary as VfB head coach, gathered his players on the training pitch, said a few words and blew his whistle for the first training session on the road to the second half of the season.

Clarity only on Friday

One of the players missing was Silas, whose Corona quick test did not give a clear result. In order not to take any risks, the 23-year-old was sent home without having achieved anything. A PCR test, which was also carried out on all the players, will be carried out tomorrow to find out whether Silas is really infected and needs to be isolated at home.

Mavropanos and Klimowicz will probably be absent in Fürth

Pity for Stuttgart, who are already without Mavropanos and Klimowicz, who are stuck in quarantine after positive results in their home countries of Greece and Argentina and are likely to be out for the opening game at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. In the case of Silas, there is at least hope that the shock of today’s unclear result of the rapid test will dissolve into nothing tomorrow.

Fresh faces at the start of training

Also absent today is Omar Marmoush, who is part of the Egyptian national team for the upcoming Africa Cup, and Mo Sankoh, who will be missing until the summer due to the serious knee injury he sustained last August. Instead, midfielder Raul Paula (17) and goal scorer Thomas Kastanaras (18) round off the training squad. The two U-19 offensive talents will be allowed to try out for the professionals until further notice. Like Alexis Tibidi (18) before them, who even got some minutes in the Bundesliga in the first half of the season and is still with the team today.
