Anthony Joshua also loses the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. Criticism comes from Tyson Fury, but the Joshua manager goes on the counter-attack
In the much anticipated rematch between Oleksandr Uysk against Anthony Joshua, the Englishman has lost again.
The retired Tyson Fury didn’t miss the chance to blurt out his opinion on the duel between the two. “That was one of the worst heavyweight fights I’ve seen yes. I would finish them both in one night,” he said on Instagram.
For that, the Gipsy King now faced fierce backlash from Joshua’s manager.
“Tyson Fury is a person who has said quite openly that he has had mental health issues and struggles. Then you see a crying man as big and strong as AJ, who has put on a nice face for years and tonight said something like that, you saw chinks in his armour,” Eddie Hearn defended.
Eddie Hearn criticises Fury statements
That’s why he also criticised Fury’s statements. “So when you see a person who’s gone through these mental problems and now goading someone when they’re down and destroyed, it shows what kind of man he is.”
Former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew also defended Joshua for his bizarre performance after his defeat. “Never judge a boxer for his post fight interview!” he wrote on Twitter.
In addition, Bellew praised the 32-year-old as “respectful, honest and nice to everyone”. That’s why Bellew is also sure the Englishman will be back.
Joshua was overcome with emotion after Saturday night’s fight against new and old world boxing champion Usyk: First he threw two world championship belts of his Ukrainian opponent out of the ring, then he snatched the microphone away from his victorious opponent and gave a confused speech.
