England coach Gareth Southgate has named his squad for the upcoming internationals. Trent Alexander-Arnold is included as a midfielder
The national team captain is there, of course. Harry Kane, Bayern’s new centre-forward, is in England’s 26-man squad for the upcoming internationals against Ukraine (9 September, European Championship qualifier) and Scotland (12 September, friendly), as is Real Madrid’s new signing Jude Bellingham.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling, who scored twice and set up the third goal in last weekend’s 3-0 win over promoted Luton, was left out of the national team squad by coach Gareth Southgate. “He wasn’t available the last two times, so other people have been able to prove themselves and establish themselves in the meantime,” the 2021 European Championship runner-up explained.
Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea defender Levi Colwill will feature for the first time, while Southgate will continue to count on Harry Maguire, who has barely featured at Manchester United, and Jordan Henderson, who has joined Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, part of the right-back surplus, is listed in midfield.
