Jude Bellingham (18) has not been called up to the England national team squad by Gareth Southgate. However, the reason should make Borussia Dortmund rather happy.
Jude Bellingham may only have been 18 for three months, but he is already an integral part of the Dortmund team. The teenager has also been called up regularly for the national team, including at EURO 2020.
Now Gareth Southgate has decided against calling up Bellingham. As with Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood, the national coach is giving the youngsters a break.
Borussia Dortmund should be pleased about this, especially since Mahmoud Dahoud is already missing in central midfield due to injury and a potential absence of Bellingham would be difficult to cope with at the moment. The eighth-placed midfielder has played in ten of BVB’s ten competitive matches so far.
England face Andorra and Hungary in the World Cup qualifiers. The Three Lions lead Group I with 16 points ahead of Albania (12).
