Bundesliga club ratiopharm Ulm has notched up its next victory in the Eurocup and remains in the top flight. The Swabians set a season record with 114 points.
The ratiopharm Ulm basketball team is still on course for the last sixteen in the Eurocup. In their 114:91 (56:45) victory against BC Wolves Vilnius from Lithuania, the Swabians impressed in particular in offense and scored a season-best number of points. It was their fourth consecutive victory in this competition. Ulm now has eight wins and four losses. Marcio Santos was the top scorer with 20 points.
After the recent home defeat in the Bundesliga against Heidelberg, Ulm wanted to get back to its strengths and show a reaction. They succeeded immediately. The home side was superior from the outset and impressed with a high scoring rate. The number of 32 points made that clear. In the second quarter, the guests got into the game better and were able to reduce the deficit.
14:0 run in the third quarter brings preliminary decision
But Ulm struck back right after the break with a three-pointer. However, that did not provide the necessary certainty. Vilnius was able to reduce the deficit to eight points (59:51). On the next attack, Santos and Isaiah Roby started their show, contributing twelve points to the 14:0 run. This intermediate spurt decided the game.
ratiopharm went into the final period with a 26-point lead, after which the Bundesliga club continued to sparkle in offense and set a new scoring record this season. The next opponents are Besiktas Istanbul, a team in the same league, on Boxing Day.
