FC Red Bull Salzburg announced the signing of Strahinja Pavlovic on Tuesday. The 21-year-old moves from AS Monaco to the Austrian serial champions.
Fc Red Bull Salzburg are gearing up for the coming season: as the Mozarstadter announced on Tuesday, Strahinja Pavlovic signed a five-year contract until 2027. The 21-year-old centre-back has already played 20 international matches for the Serbian national team.
At club level, Pavlovic had moved from Partizan Belgrade to AS Monaco in 2020, but he only played twelve games for the Monegasques. The 21-year-old was loaned out to his former club Partizan, Cercle Brugge and most recently to FC Basel. According to media reports, the transfer fee paid by Salzburg amounts to around seven million euros plus a possible bonus of two million euros.
Pavlovic: “I want to show what I can do “
“I am very happy that I am now a player of FC Red Bull Salzburg. I’ve heard a lot about the club and I know that they put a lot of emphasis on young players. I am one of them now and want to show what I can do. And of course I want to be there when it comes to winning titles and being successful in the Champions League,” Pavlovic said in a statement.
Sports director Christoph Freund was also enthusiastic: “With Strahinja Pavlovic, we have signed an all-round, aggressive young player who is strong in two fights. In addition, he already has a lot of experience, because I don’t think there are too many players who have already made 20 senior appearances at such a young age. That’s another reason why we expect a lot from him, but we will certainly give him time to get used to his new environment and style of play.”
Meanwhile, Salzburg’s test match against Legia Warsaw scheduled for Tuesday had to be cancelled due to poor pitch conditions. The pitch had been under water since midday and a regular match was not possible
