Marcelo (34) has joined a new club after his time in Madrid – Olympiakos Piraeus, who will play SC Freiburg in the Europa League.
At a high point, his fifth Champions League title, Marcelo resigned from Real Madrid when he had already been discarded in sporting terms, however. However, the 34-year-old Brazilian, who was once one of the best left-backs in the world, did not want to think about quitting this summer.
It had already been announced on Friday that Marcelo had signed for Greek champions Olympiakos Piraeus after a short period of clublessness. It is a one-year contract with an option for a second season.
With the Greeks, the former Real captain will compete in the group stage of the Europa League – where he will face SC Freiburg, among others.
