Whether SC Union Nettetal will finish the season in the promotion or relegation play-off is currently still completely open. What seems absolutely clear, however, is that coach Andreas Schwan has confidence in the long term.
Andreas Schwan will remain coach of SC Union Nettetal beyond the end of the season. Along with him, co-coach Lutz Krienen, goalkeeper coach Marcel Siepmann and team manager Khaled Daftari have also given their commitment. Schwan has been coaching the Oberliga club since October 2016, when it was not yet an Oberliga club. In 2017/18, the 36-year-old led SCU to the 5th division after many years in lower divisions.
The special thing about the current commitment: the contracts have been extended indefinitely. Head of department Dirk Riether revealed in a statement from his club why this constellation was chosen: “We have deliberately extended the contracts indefinitely because we value the very meticulous work of the coaching team and can’t imagine a better constellation for Union in terms of sport and people. The team has developed positively and we want to continue on our Nettetal path under the leadership of Andi and Lutz for as long as possible.”
The current sporting situation promises plenty of excitement: Nettetal are currently in twelfth place in the Oberliga Niederrhein, but the gap to the coveted eleventh place is only three points with one game less.
