Porsche LMDh shows itself with headlights for the first time

Porsche teases its LMDh/GTP bolide with headlights for the first time – They correspond to the design study from December 2020

Porsche celebrates its triumph at the Formula E in Mexico with a teaser: The still unnamed LMDh bolide shows itself officially with headlights for the first time. The camouflage film has been removed for this purpose.

The headlights have been exposed on the area that was slightly different from the rest of the vehicle in the previous pictures. No big surprise is revealed. They are almost the same as the rendering from December 2020.

Porsche’s design feature with the eight eyes thus also comes into play on the LMDh behemoth. Four eyes per side have been a Porsche design feature for several years now.

Instead of four points, as on the 911 and 919 Hybrid or even the Panamera, the LMDh vehicle has four bars reminiscent of the headlights on the Porsche Taycan. They are also used in a similar form on the Mission R and the virtual concept study Vision GT, although they are narrower there.

The openings in the wing above the wheel arch are also striking, allowing air turbulence from the tyres to escape, which would otherwise cause resistance in the wheel arch. They are significantly more elongated than on the predecessor 919 Hybrid.

Theoretically, they could be extended even further forwards, because part of them is covered. During the rollout in Weissach in January, the covers were still black, but they have now also been painted camouflage.
