Perfect Bundesliga return: Kalajdzic moves to Frankfurt

After almost a year and a half, Sasa Kalajdzic (27) is back in the Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt have signed the striker on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers

Shortly before the end of the summer transfer window, Sasa Kalajdzic left VfB Stuttgart for England in 2022. Now the two-meter tall center forward’s return to the Bundesliga is complete: Eintracht Frankfurt has loaned the center forward from Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season. Nothing is known about a possible purchase option.

“Sasa has already proven that he can play a very good role in the Bundesliga. His style of play will bring a new element to our game. He is a strong finishing player with a good positioning and heading game,” Markus Krösche was quoted as saying in a club statement on Sunday. The Eintracht sports director emphasized: “We are firmly convinced that he can help us immediately thanks to his experience. “

It had been known for some time that Frankfurt wanted to add to the striker position following the last-minute departure of Randal Kolo Muani in the summer. Because the two top scorers Omar Marmoush and Fares Chaibi were nominated for the Africa Cup and will be absent for the time being, there was a need for additional action. Kalajdzic emerged as a top candidate – and decided early on that he wanted to go to Frankfurt

The Austrian’s time at Wolves got off to the worst possible start: Just three days after his transfer, Kalajdzic suffered a cruciate ligament rupture on his Premier League debut in early September 2022 and was ruled out for the rest of the season. He only made his comeback last August. However, he rarely got beyond wild card status. Kalajdzic only made three of his 13 appearances in the current season from the start, only one of which was in the Premier League.

Presumably in order to maintain his chances of being called up for the European Championship, the powerful attacker sought a transfer in the winter – and is now back in the Bundesliga. Kalajdzic scored a total of 22 goals in 51 appearances for VfB Stuttgart between 2020 and 2022.
