Five manufacturers will once again compete in the 2024 WSBK season: the first contracts of the top riders in the World Superbike Championship have already been signed
With Ducati, Yamaha, Kawasaki, BMW and Honda, five manufacturers will again be represented with factory teams in the 2024 WSBK season. The rider field will be top-class and includes experienced superbikers and champions such as Alvaro Bautista, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jonathan Rea.
Ducati: The first of the top riders to renew his contract was Alvaro Bautista. At the beginning of May, world champion of the 2022 season announced the extension of his cooperation with Ducati during the home race in Barcelona
It is still open who will be the teammate of the World Superbike Champion of the 2022 season. Michael Rinaldi is expected to lose his place to Supersport World Championship leader Nicolo Bulega, who is in line for a move up to Superbikes.
BMW: Former World Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu caused a surprise between the WSBK events in Barcelona and Misano: After four years with Yamaha, Razgatlioglu is looking for a new challenge and will compete for the BMW factory team from 2024. Michael van der Mark is expected to become his teammate.
Yamaha: Yamaha had to compensate for the loss of Toprak Razgatlioglu. The big coup was achieved! An agreement was reached with record world champion Jonathan Rea on a two-year contract for 2024 and 2025. Andrea Locatelli will also remain in the factory team in 2024. It will be the Italian’s fourth season as a Yamaha factory rider.
Kawasaki: Originally, Jonathan Rea still had a contract for 2024, but an amicable parting of ways was agreed. Who will be his successor is still open. What is certain is that Alex Lowes will also be piloting a factory Kawasaki in 2024
Honda: Honda wants to continue with Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge in 2024, but there are no fixed contracts yet. Lecuona has recently been linked with a return to MotoGP. During his stints as a substitute rider, Lecuona recommended himself for a place in the Honda squad.
Marc-VDS-Ducati: Newcomer to the World Superbike Championship, Sam Lowes moves from the Moto2 World Championship to the production-based championship for the 2024 season. The Brit rides for the new Ducati customer team Marc VDS and will meet his twin brother Alex Lowes, among others, in the 2024 WSBK grid
GRT-Yamaha: The Yamaha satellite team continues its collaboration with Dominique Aegerter. The Swiss rider is under contract with Yamaha and will continue to pilot a factory R1 in the GRT team in 2024.
