OP after games in pain: FCA longer without Niederlechner

Florian Niederlechner will be missing from FC Augsburg for a longer period of time. The attacker had to have surgery.

On Monday evening, FCA informed about an unspecified operation on the 30-year-old, which “went well”. Niederlechner had “recently only played in pain”.

On Saturday, Augsburg’s top scorer this season – he scored two of FCA’s three goals – was substituted in the 78th minute of the away game in Dortmund (1-2). In the run-up to the game, Niederlechner had been questionable due to recurring adductor problems.

Now FCA must try to get out of the bottom of the table without him. Coach Markus Weinzierl’s team is in 15th place in the table with five points and a goal difference of 3:13 after just one win from seven games.

Niederlechner played on all seven matchdays, twice as a wild card. On the second matchday, however, he was already substituted in the 17th minute of the 0:0 draw in Frankfurt – due to a laceration.
