The EWE Baskets Oldenburg have strengthened themselves with a flexible newcomer who could not avert relegation with Frankfurt last season. Lukas Wank has signed for one year with the team from Lower Saxony.
With two weeks to go before the start of the season, Champions League contender Oldenburg have announced a new signing. The Lower Saxons have signed Lukas Wank from BBL relegated Frankfurt Skyliners. The contract has a term of twelve months.
Olympic participant Wank, who comes from Thuringia and is 26 years old, can be used quite flexibly at the “Donnervögeln” in the small positions and can play both shooting guard and small forward. In German professional basketball, Wank has been active in Jena, Cologne, Würzburg, Chemnitz, Braunschweig and finally Frankfurt so far in his career. In the summer of 2021, he made his debut with the German Basketball Association (DBB), but was not part of Gordon Herbert’s World Cup squad this summer. He was used in two games at the Tokyo Olympics.
Double against Bayern
Oldenburg will start the new BBL season with a Lower Saxony tie at BB Löwen Braunschweig on 29 September. FC Bayern Basketball will come to the Hunte for their first home game on 2 October, and they will play them again away in the Cup Round of 16 (14.10.). In mid-October, the EWE Baskets will also enter the Champions League.
