Ric Flair hints at AEW Dynamite that he could be in the opponent’s corner for his legendary companion Sting’s final match
Wrestling icon Sting’s final match was confirmed last week – but where will his equally legendary friend and companion be?
On the latest edition of the TV show AEW Dynamite, the WWE rival provided new topics of conversation surrounding Sting’s farewell match: Ric Flair dropped hints that he could be part of his opponent’s corner at the Pay Per View Revolution.
AEW Dynamite: Ric Flair not at Sting’s side?
The 74-year-old – under contract to AEW since last fall – appeared on Dynamite in a backstage interview, expressing “disappointment” that he was “no longer involved” in the big moment.

The “Nature Boy”, who as Sting’s great rival once launched his rise to a top star in the industry, added in the conversation with interviewer Renee Paquette that he had no personal grudges against Sting, but that he still felt compelled to “consider my options”.
The camera then followed Flair to a door he knocked on: that of AEW co-founders and co-managers Nicholas and Matthew Jackson (The Young Bucks) – the opponents of Sting and partner Darby Allin at Revolution.
The Jacksons invited Flair in and the segment took an open ending: fans are now left to puzzle over whether Flair will actually team up with the Bucks – or if some sort of deception is in the works that will end with Sting and Flair reconciling after all.
The 64-year-old Sting and Allin put their tag team titles on the line against the Bucks on March 3 in the traditional wrestling hotbed of Greensboro.
It will be the final curtain call for the WCW legend, who returned from retirement for AEW at the end of 2020 and has since stunned fans with atmospheric performances and often daring stunts.
Rob Van Dam gets involved again
Another nostalgic moment came in the main event of Dynamite, where former ECW and WWE top star Rob Van Dam interfered in the title feud between World Champion Samoa Joe and his challengers Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland.
Van Dam teamed up with Page and top talent Hook – son of RVD companion Taz – to face Joe, Strickland and Hook’s rival Brian Cage. Joe got his back in the end by choking Van Dam unconscious with his choke and taking the win.
