Musiala: Leverkusen game “was a good experience”

As disappointing as the 0-0 draw in the summit clash with Bayer Leverkusen may have been, it could also have had something good about it, believes Jamal Musiala. The youngster hopes that it will be a learning factor for the important games.

After Leverkusen is before Celtic. On Tuesday, FC Bayern will host the Scots from Glasgow for the second leg of the Champions League play-offs. The task at hand is to hold on to the 2-1 lead. As Jamal Musiala says, the 0-0 draw in Leverkusen may not have been unimportant for the upcoming international assignments.

Although the youngster is aware that FCB “hasn’t experienced a game like this before this season,” he says it was “a good experience” and “we can learn from this game.” Because even though “we didn’t have a good day, we didn’t lose.” This draw, in which Bayern had to defend continuously, is an indication that the team spirit is good and that the team can “fight and keep a clean sheet,” says Musiala: “You need that if you want to go far.”

However, Bayern should not normally have to defend deep against Celtic. Especially not in their own stadium. That’s why Bayern’s super dribbler demands: “We have to be 100 percent there and not let up.” Even if Munich go into the game with a lead. “It won’t be an easy game,” believes Musiala, “but none of us want excuses.”

After all, the decisive phase of the season is now beginning. Celtic should be just a stopover for Munich on their way to the “final dahoam”. If they make it to the last 16, they will face either Atletico Madrid or, as in the league and in the DFB Cup earlier this month, Bayer Leverkusen. But first, Munich must get the job done against Celtic at the Allianz Arena. And quickly get back into top form, which has been lacking somewhat in recent weeks.
