Have you ever wondered how Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah would look like if made of millions of tiny stones? Well, in Kazan, you’ll have a chance to see for yourself.

A group of artists from one of the 11 Russian cities to host the 2018 World Cup decided to take photos of two of the biggest football superstars at the moment and create mementos that would captivate fans visiting the city this summer. The portraits will be exhibited on the streets of Kazan as part of the promotion of Russian culture that will take place during the tournament. This is what Anna Solnechnaya, one of the people who created these master-pieces said:
“These lovely portraits are made from stone. We want to wow people, to show off our town, so that their visit will be memorable,”
It must have taken hours and hours of intricate work to bring the photos of Messi and Salah to life. I envy the few lucky ones who’ll get to see them. Hopefully, Solnechnaya and her friends won’t stop here and make a few more.

The two stars will actually not be visiting Kazan during their summer tour of Russia. Messi’s Argentina landed in style on a Rolling Stone airplane on Sunday before heading off to its base in Moscow. Its first fixture is on June 16 against Iceland.
Meanwhile, Salah’s Egypt had a different destination as the only team to have a base in Chechnya. His squad landed in Grozny on Sunday. The Egyptian star has already made the news after being part of a publicity stunt by controversial Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Egypt takes its World Cup bow on Friday versus Uruguay.
