The two Wagner brothers will continue to play together for the Orlando Magic. Moritz will sign a new two-year contract to stay alongside Franz
The Orlando Magic declined a team option that would have kept Moritz Wagner in Florida and alongside his younger brother Franz for another year. But rumors immediately followed that both sides wanted to continue working together.
These circulating rumors were confirmed on Tuesday evening by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. According to the report, the German world champion will stay for another two years and receive a handsome 22 million US dollars in return. The energizer from the bench thus has the chance to continue on the good path he has taken with the Magic.
Franz’s older brother is undoubtedly a very important player for any team. Moritz Wagner can put his ego on the back burner and subordinate everything to the team’s success. When he gets his minutes from the bench, he always brings energy and full commitment. Last season, he averaged 10.9 points and 3.9 rebounds in the regular season
First Olympia, then a new offense with Orlando
Orlando has made good progress with a young team led by the two top players Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, finishing last season in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. In the first playoff round, they then had a very close duel with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which they lost 4:3.
The Magic will now try again next season. For the two brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner, however, the Olympic Games in Paris are now on the agenda. As is well known, Germany will go into the tournament as the reigning world champions and can certainly expect to do well
