Michael Schumacher as your teammate? F1 25 makes it possible

In F1 25, MyTeam gets a new look for its fifth anniversary. Developer Codemasters is moving away from the previous focus, among other things.

Five years ago, MyTeam mode made its debut in F1 – now the game mode is getting a major overhaul for its anniversary. As EA SPORTS announced, Codemasters is abandoning the familiar switch between team owner and driver. Instead, players will have to focus on the task of manager and take care of both drivers.

Specifically, this involves new tactical decisions that you will be required to make as the team manager. Of course, you can still drive yourself – but not as your own character, rather as one of the two pilots.

In the future, icons like Michael Schumacher will be able to join your team or an AI-controlled team: in both the revised version, MyTeam 2.0, as the mode is now called, and the driver career, it is possible to bring legendary F1 personalities out of retirement.

In addition, an 11th team can be integrated into the starting field in both game modes – you can choose between Konnersport from Braking Point or the APXGP team from the new film F1 starring Brad Pitt. There is just one catch: the APXGP team is available exclusively to players who purchase the Iconic Edition before July 11.

Actions and Consequences

The team’s headquarters is also getting a fresh coat of paint – the corporate sector in particular deserves some attention. This is where you will manage seasonal spending in the future, which requires strategic thinking.

For the first time, research and development are clearly separated, which opens up additional decision-making levels for you. As already mentioned, you will have to make decisions with real consequences:

For example, you will have to weigh up whether you prioritize costs or development time – and decide which of your drivers will receive a particular upgrade. These choices not only affect performance on the track, but can also impact contract negotiations and how your drivers perceive their team.

Last but not least, you will now be able to meet several potential drivers in person to discuss contract terms. But be careful: if any information from these meetings leaks to the public, it can scupper the deal.

Efficiency vs. Expansion: Finding the right balance

But it’s not just your drivers who need attention – the team behind the team needs managing too. A larger workforce speeds up both research and development and facility upgrades. However, expanding too quickly can quickly become a problem: if you exceed the cost ceiling, you risk financial bottlenecks and strategic setbacks.

Awards that have already been won in the driver’s career will return to MyTeam. As soon as you defeat rival teams, you will receive a reward that will affect the fan rating of your team. This in turn favors new sponsorships or the opportunity to sign prestigious drivers.

F1 25 will be released on May 30. The standard edition for PC will cost 60 euros, while the Iconic version will cost 80 euros. On consoles, the prices will be 80 and 100 euros respectively.
