Michael ‘MegaBit’ Bittner leaves Werder Bremen

After four years Michael ‘MegaBit’ Bittner leaves SV Werder Bremen. His contract expires at the end of the season and will not be extended.

Michael ‘MegaBit’ Bittner has been part of Werder Bremen’s eSports department since it was founded. Now they are parting ways. As the club announced, the contract, which expires at the end of the season, will not be extended.

“Michael has shaped an era here in the last four years. He has been a Werderan since the start of our eSports commitment in the summer of 2018 and lives the club. We have therefore definitely not made the decision easy, but after intensive consideration we have nevertheless decided to go our separate ways after the season,” explained Dominik Kupilas, Head of Business Development & eSports at Werder Bremen.

“I would have liked to bring one or two more titles to the Weser “

For the 23-year-old, saying goodbye was “anything but easy, because Werder was more than just a club for me. The club and the eSports project associated with it were so important to me that I based my life and actions on them. That’s why I’m very proud of what we’ve built up over the past years […]. On the other hand, I am sad that we could not continue the success of the first two years. I would have liked to bring one or two more titles to the Weser.”

Bittner won the German championship three times with the North Germans – including the club title twice. How the journey will continue for him is still uncertain. After Mustafa ‘xMusti19’ Cankal, ‘MegaBit’ is already the second prominent player to transfer this summer.
