Lung problems: Kimmich out until the end of the year

Joshua Kimmich will not play another game this year. The Bayern player has to sit out for the time being with lung problems.

Kimmich’s isolation had only been declared over on Wednesday after a negative Corona test, when Bayern announced the fresh retirement. “I am doing very well, however, due to slight infiltrations in my lungs, I am currently unable to train fully. I will therefore undergo rehabilitation training and can’t wait to be back in full action in January,” the 26-year-old was quoted as saying on Thursday.

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic had said on Wednesday before the Champions League match against FC Barcelona (3-0) that Kimmich had tested clear and examinations would follow. “I know our Jo, of course he will give everything to come back quickly “, Salihamidzic said at , “but we have to be reasonable.” He added that they would sit down with coach Julian Nagelsmann and the doctors and decide what was best.

Kimmich has not played a game for around four weeks, having first been in contact and then contracting Corona.

Kimmich will thus miss the remaining three games in 2021. On Saturday, the FCB will face Mainz 05, and on 14 December, the record champions will be challenged by VfB Stuttgart. The last game is on 17 December against VfL Wolfsburg.

Choupo-Moting also out for the time being

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will also be unavailable to the FCB for the time being. Although he has not been in isolation for a few days, he is now struggling with the after-effects of his Corona infection. He will not be able to train fully again until next week at the earliest.
