Laporta suspects conspiracy: Dani Olmo registration in jeopardy again?

According to a La Liga report, FC Barcelona is said to have failed to honor financial commitments that were announced and that made the registration of Dani Olmo possible in the first place. Barca’s president was clear about this.

The discussions surrounding the registration of former Leipzig player Dani Olmo at FC Barcelona continue. La Liga published a statement on its website on Wednesday accusing the Catalans of not keeping the financial promises they made to the league when they registered Dani Olmo and his teammate Pau Victor in January. Without those assurances, a player permit for the two would not have been issued in the first place.

In order to register the players, Barca had presented the league with a deal through which the club wanted to generate long-term profits in the triple-digit millions by selling VIP seats. With the help of this income, a sufficiently large surplus could have been generated to further raise the salary cap for the squad set on this basis – so that the two summer signings would also have “fitted” under the cap.

Laporta is raging – decision probably in the next few days

However, a new calculation no longer mentions the income from the VIP seats agreement. As a result, FC Barcelona no longer has the necessary income to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. As a result, La Liga will file a complaint with the relevant authority (ICAC). Barca president Joan Laporta was clear about the accusations to the Spanish media: “La Liga has approved the signing of Pau Victor and Dani Olmo – now they have changed their minds. Why? Did they do a bad job in the first place when they approved the contracts?”

Laporta was particularly annoyed about the timing, as Atletico Madrid’s important Copa del Rey semi-final second leg is scheduled for this evening: “I have a feeling that this is no coincidence,” said Laporta. “It’s another attempt to destabilize our team, and sometimes I get the feeling that they want to win what they can’t win on the pitch in the offices,” the president continued before the cup game, which Dani Olmo will miss due to injury anyway. According to Marca, the club does not want to make an official statement for the time being and is waiting for the decision of the sports court. This is now expected in the coming days.
