Both tennis pros Dominik Koepfer and Laura Siegemund had previously caused surprises, but have now both been knocked out of their tournaments in the quarter-finals
Dominik Koepfer has missed out on reaching the semi-finals at the ATP tournament in Lyon. The German tennis pro lost the quarter-final against the Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 4:6, 1:6 and was thus eliminated from the dress rehearsal for the French Open. Prior to that, the 30-year-old had surprisingly defeated the top-seeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert in three sets in the round of 16.
Laura Siegemund also failed to reach the semi-finals of the women’s tournament in Rabat, Morocco. The 36-year-old Swabian lost 4:6, 3:6 to Viktoriya Tomowa from Bulgaria in the quarter-finals. Earlier in the tournament, Siegemund had unexpectedly beaten the Russian second seed Anna Blinkova. The French Open in Paris begins on Sunday.
