Knee injury: Dresden’s Herrmann out for weeks

SG Dynamo Dresden cannot rely on the services of Luca Herrmann in the near future. The midfielder will be out for several weeks due to an injury to his left knee.

After an MRI examination on Wednesday at the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Dresden, Herrmann has opted for conservative therapy. In coordination with Dynamo’s medical team, the 22-year-old will initially undergo rehabilitation measures in Freiburg.

Ralf Becker regrets the absence of Herrmann, whom he attests an excellent development in his first half-year. “We wish him a good recovery and will support him in the best possible way,” the SGD’s managing director of sport was quoted as saying in a press release from the Saxons. Herrmann appeared in ten second-division games – eight from the start – in which he recorded one assist.

In addition to Herrmann and the three long-term injured players Patrick Wiegers, Tim Knipping and Panagiotis Vlachodimos, the promoted team will still have to do without Robin Becker (domestic quarantine after coronavirus infection) and also Sebastian Mai (infection).

Broll on the road to recovery

But there is also positive news for Dynamo. Regular keeper Kevin Broll, who has been unable to train recently due to a cervical spine strain, is on the road to recovery and can slowly increase his training load again.

Michael Akoto has also recovered from his infection. The defensive player already trained individually again on Wednesday and is expected to join the team training on Thursday afternoon.
