Makarska – Fed Cup player Jule Niemeier has won the tournament in Makarska, Croatia. The 22-year-old tennis player from Dortmund won the final against the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto 7:5, 6:1 and celebrated her first title on the WTA Tour.
The clay court event is in the WTA 125 category, the smallest on the women’s tour. Previously, Niemeier had only won titles at the lower ITF level. For her success, Niemeier, who was eliminated in the first round of the French Open, collected 15,000 dollars and 160 points for the world ranking.
