According to an Italian media report, Franck Ribery will apparently resign from his post as technical coach at US Salernitana. Nothing would then stand in the way of a return to FC Bayern in the near future
Franck Ribery is flirting with a return to FC Bayern in the near future. Because he can definitely imagine a job on campus at the German record champions, he is currently completing his coaching course.
Now his departure from Italy is apparently becoming more concrete: According to Sky Sport Italia, Ribery will resign as technical coach of US Salernitana, currently bottom of the table with just 14 points from 29 games, with immediate effect.
At Salerno, which has also relied on Jerome Boateng (four short appearances) since February, things have been going haywire since the start of the season: Paulo Sousa was still on the bench at the start before being replaced by Filippo Inzaghi – but he was also dismissed after 124 days in office. His successor Fabio Liverani was suspended on Tuesday and Stefano Colantuono, who had already coached the club from December 2017 to December 2018 and October 2021 to February 2022, was installed
Ribery probably favors return to Munich
The club wanted to keep Ribery even after the third change of coach this season, but the Frenchman is said to have changed his mind. The former winger reportedly prefers to stay in Munich with his family.
Ribery ended his great career in Salerno in October 2022 and subsequently joined the club’s staff. The most important stage of his career was undoubtedly his time in Munich, where he won everything there was to win with Bayern between 2007 and 2019 – in the year of the treble, Ribery was also named European Footballer of the Year in 2013.
Will the former crowd favorite soon come full circle on the Bayern campus?
