Is Mbappe Ready to Reign Supreme?

It was only a matter of time before France prodigy Kylian Mbappe showed the world why PSG were so keen to sign him. The teen sensation caught the eye of scouts across the world as he came through the ranks at Monaco, where he made 41 appearances for the first team, scoring 16 goals in the process. PSG were prepared to pay the substantial sum to take him to Paris, in a deal of around €145 million, making him the most expensive ever teenager and the second most expensive player in the world.

The future is bright for Mbappe

Still only 19 years of age, Mbappe has plenty of time to break records and win trophy cabinets full of title trophies. The past decade has been dominated by a certain duo named Messi and Ronaldo but this World Cup has shown that it could be time for change. Messi struggled in an average looking Argentina team and Ronaldo could not muster up a repeat of the 3 goal haul against Spain, as his team crashed out to Uruguay.

Messi and Ronaldo out of the World Cup

In the game between France and Argentina, Messi fans expected their hero to step up and do what he usually does – single-handedly take them through with moments of individual magic. The defining moments of magic turned out to be from the young France star Mbabbe, as he grabbed two goals to help send Argentina home. Right-back Pavard’s goal was pretty magical too!

Deschamps had worried his team was too young leading up to the tournament but perhaps this will work in their favour. Messi looked frustrated with the expectations constantly placed on him, whereas Mbappe played with the freedom of a young player with no fears.

Can Mbappe fire France to World Cup victory?

Now Mbappe will line up against Uruguay this afternoon, in a game where they are clear favourites to win. Luis Suarez may have something to say about that, but with Cavani potentially missing the game through injury, the firepower of France should be too much for Uruguay. This France team would then potentially meet Brazil, in a game where Mbappe and Neymar will draw huge comparisons, especially as they are the two most expensive players in the world right now. Neymar has been making headlines for his theatrical reactions to tackles, whilst Mbappe is making headlines for all of the right reasons.
