Manchester United will not capture Harry Maguire after all. The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a new five-year contract which will keep him at the King Power Stadium until 2023.
Leicester City is delighted with the news Manchester United target Harry Maguire has renewed his contract with the club that bought him from Hull City for €14 million in 2017.
“The supporters, ever since I came to the club have been absolutely brilliant with me. I am looking forward to playing in front of them a lot more.”
He joined The Foxes as the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the 2016/17 Season and quickly became a fan-favorite in Leicester.
Harry Maguire gets a wage hike
The club was desperate to keep the highly-rated central defender and even gave Kasper Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy, and Wilfred Ndidi bumper deals in order to convince him to stay. Harry Maguire’s new contract sees his wage increase from £45,000 (€50,000) to £80,000 (€90,000) per week.
“It’s massive, obviously the chairman has come and he wanted to reward me with a good contract and to add more years to the contract, so it is nice to have security behind me but now I am looking forward to the season ahead,”
Leicester City to rise again?
Leicester’s season has got off to a solid start with six points from four games. Their two losses came in the first round at Manchester United and in the last one prior to the international break versus Liverpool. The two wins for the Foxes were against Southampton and Wolverhampton. Harry Maguire appreciates the reception and support he has received since coming to the club and is looking forward to a successful season.

Maguire played 90 minutes in England’s loss to Spain and has become a regular in the starting lineup alongside John Stones ever since Gareth Southgate took over. The defender believes he owes this opportunity to Leicester City.
“They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot.
“I owe them a lot and I’m looking forward to the future.”
Now that his future is settled, Claude Puel’s team can focus on rising back up to the level that Leicester City was on when Claudio Ranieri led them to the Premier League.
