Hope for Kempf, out for Führich

The injury worries at VfB are not abating. While Marc Oliver Kempf has a small chance of playing against Bielefeld, Chris Führich is certain to be out.

Both of Stuttgart’s top performers of recent weeks had to be substituted in the first half of the 1:4 loss in Augsburg. Führich, who had scored the lead for the Swabians from the Neckar in the early stages of the match, had to leave the game with ankle problems. Kempf grabbed the back of his left thigh shortly after his colleague from the attack was out and left the pitch. The exact diagnoses for the two unlucky players were revealed today.

“We have hope with Kempfi,” says Sven Mislintat about the thigh problems of the left centre-back, who apparently still heard his body’s signals in time and protected himself  from a worse injury. A threatening muscle fibre tear could thus be avoided. However, it remains to be seen whether the hardening of the muscle will be cured in time for Saturday.

S already the second injury this season: Führich is missing for the time being

Fr Führich has suffered a worse injury with a partial tear of the inner ligament in his right ankle. The newcomer from Paderborn, who scored his first Bundesliga goal for VfB in Augsburg, will miss at least until after the international break. “The injury is very bitter for him because it’s already his second since joining VfB,” said the sporting director, who is, however, sure “that he won’t let himself be knocked down by this new setback.” It is not clear what will happen to Konstantinos Mavropanos, who has torn a muscle fibre in his thigh, and Omar Marmoush (problems with his syndesmosis).
