Otherwise, the RB Leipzig international has not been considered by coach Jesse Marsch this season and is correspondingly unhappy with his role. “It’s a very difficult situation and not what I imagined. The reality is that I am working hard on myself and training well, the coach also confirms that to me,” Henrichs told kicker.
Even after the test match against Slask Wroclaw a fortnight ago, “I got good feedback. That’s why I know that I can’t reproach myself for giving everything. I’m just waiting for the moment when I get my chance. I’m ready and eager to show what I’m made of. “
The Olympic participation meant that Henrichs, who RB signed permanently from AS Monaco for €15 million after a loan spell in the spring, had a late start to pre-season and also suffered a minor knee injury. For two months now, however, the defensive all-rounder has been fully fit for duty – and still only second choice. “It is not my ambition to have only 20 minutes in two months. At 24, I am at an age where I want to play week after week. That is the most important thing for me, and if that is not given, you have to think about it,” says Henrichs, who wants to be shown a perspective for himself.
If nothing changes in his situation, a move in the winter is on the cards, even if Henrichs is not aiming for it. “I can fully identify with the whole Leipzig package, I’m actually happy here,” he stresses, “but you have to think about where you go from here. I don’t want to change, but I want to play football. “
