Harry Kane had WWE lookalikes

It’s been a running gag in England for several years: In the nineties, a wrestler competed in the WWE who looked like the spitting image of the Bayern newcomer.

It’s been a running gag among English fans for a long time – and now supporters of the Bundesliga could also be rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

Harry Kane, FC Bayern München’s star newcomer, had a doppelganger in the wider sporting world: a wrestler who had actually been forgotten and who was also active in WWE in the early nineties.

“Harry Kane was my favourite wrestler “

Mike Collins is the name of the man who competed in the WWF at the time: he was part of the group of “jobbers” – local wrestlers with accentuated normalo looks who lose every match to make the actual stars look stronger and more dazzling.

In 2019, the operator of the English Twitter account “Wrestling Memes” stumbled across the moustachioed Collins and marvelled that he otherwise looked the spitting image of the then Tottenham striker.

The picture of Collins (introduced in the one match as “Eric Collins” for unknown reasons) went viral and caused many laughs. Especially as his partner Mike Freedom also bore a strong resemblance to a familiar face: actor Josh McDermitt, who embodies Eugene Porter in “The Walking Dead”.

Kane’s WWE double: trail lost in the nineties

Collins and Freedom contested the match together in 1992 against the duo The Beverly Brothers – a year before Harry Kane was born. Collins also competed against various other legends, including Razor Ramon, who passed away last year, and the young Undertaker.

Collins played his last match for WWE in 1994, further fights for smaller leagues followed, after which his trace is lost in the relevant fight databases Cagematch and Neck Break / Pro Fight DB.
